What Is the W.I.S.E.R Method?

Knowing your “why” gives journaling direction.

It acts like a compass—guiding your motivation and helping you stay on track, especially when you hit resistance.

Without a clear purpose, journaling can feel like a chore.

With it, it becomes a tool for transformation.

Who?

How to Find Your Why

Answer the 5 reflection questions below to clarify your purpose:

1. What inspired you to join this course?

2. Which journaling benefits resonated most with you?

3. Who will benefit if you make journaling a habit?

4. What is your core focus right now? (Stress? Health? Faith? Creativity?)

5. Where will you be in 5 years if you don’t invest in yourself through journaling?

Once you’ve answered, summarize your “why” in one clear sentence—something that would fit on a sticky note.

How?

Purpose Post-it Notes

Write your one-sentence why on an actual sticky note and place it somewhere visible—on your journal, laptop, mirror, or pillow.

This will:

• Remind you why you’re doing this

• Make the habit more obvious

• Help you push through mental resistance

Your why is your anchor. Use it.
