What?
What Are Morning Pages?
Morning Pages are a stream-of-consciousness journaling practice introduced by Julia Cameron in her book The Artist’s Way. The concept is simple:

Write three longhand pages of whatever is on your mind — first thing in the morning.
There are no rules. No structure. No judgment. Just you, a pen, and the page.
This method is often compared to a brain dump—a chance to offload mental clutter and start the day with more clarity.
Who?
Who Should Use Morning Pages?
Morning Pages are for everyone, but they’re especially powerful if:
You’re new to journaling and want to keep it raw and unfiltered
You’re feeling mentally overwhelmed and need a reset
You struggle with overthinking or decision fatigue
You want a practice to help unlock creativity or clarify your thoughts
Even if you don’t adopt Morning Pages as your daily go-to, it’s worth trying:
🛠️ As a tool: Pull it out when you’re mentally overloaded
🧭 As a diagnostic: Use it to learn whether you prefer structure or freedom in your journaling habit
How?
How to Use the 1-1-1 Method?
Time needed: ~15–30 minutes (or shorter with the template)
Step-by-step:
Write three pages by hand.
Don’t edit. Don’t overthink. Just write whatever’s on your mind.Use prompts if you get stuck.
Try one of these if you’re unsure where to start:What’s been on your mind before sleep lately?
What would you vent about if someone asked how you’re really doing?
What are you worried about right now?
Is there someone or something you can’t stop thinking about?
Keep going - even when it feels pointless.
Julia Cameron advises:❝“Do not over-think Morning Pages: just put three pages of anything on the page... and then do three more pages tomorrow.”
Can’t fill three pages yet? That’s okay. Start with the 1-page downloadable template provided in the Activities section.
